Editing Hyperlink in Fedora Core5

I am absolutely new to open source which I like.My questions may sound naive but I am unable to understand most of your jargon.I am a Civil Engineer aged 62 yrs with very little exposure to computers. Reason for being a fan of open source is that I think the Industrial Revolution came about as a lot of people contributed in their own ways to many discoveries and inventions and something similar will bring about computing revolution. the Internet is free and has therefore expanded so much. My specific question is - Is there a way to remove a hyperlink in Fedora core 5. The menu under "Edit Hyperlink" does not appear to have a command to remove it (unlike in Microsoft). Also, the whole of desktop is covered with the box that appears and it cannot be made smaller to see the text underneath. I can work only in GUI.

By "hyperlink", do you mean a shortcut?

Where exactly is the link you want to remove?

I would be a bit flexible on this one--you will discover two things:
1. Many things are easier using commands in a terminal
2. It's not that difficult to learn (I've got several years on you, and I did it... )
