Question Desktop displays '/home/*user*' instead of '/home/*user*/desktop'

Hi all, this problem has me stumped.

The desktop screen shows the folder /home/*user*
It should (and did until not so long ago on this computer) show /home/*user*/Desktop

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, and I know relatively little about linux. If you need further information to help fix this then let me know and ill find it out. Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks, James

Assuming you're using Gnome, take a look at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=341607
It's someone who wants to change their desktop folder but the solution might be applicable in your case.

Question Doesnt work

Hi,

Thanks for that advice but it hasn't worked. I tried both settings of the 'desktop_is_home_dir' setting it said about and rebooted both times, and there was no change.

I am using gnome, version 2.22.3.

Any more ideas anybody?

Cheers
