Desktop showing the contents of home folder on desktop in fedora 8

I am using fedora 8 .When either i click on any home or Desktop folder it show similar contents ..So now my desktop is full of folders and files..
What is this problem and how to solve that?

Look in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs and be sure you have the following line

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"

maybe for some reason you have XDG_DESKTOP_DIR set to $HOME.

Just wanted to say that I was having the same problem(in Fedora 11), and the issue was indeed in my .config/user-dirs.dirs file. This may have something to do with the fact that I have /home on another partition and had just installed Fedora using the /home which was previously used by Ubuntu.
