CUPS disables/stops my printer by default on boot

Whenever I start my computer, the printer always defaults back to being 'stopped' in the CUPS configuration (localhost:631). To use it, I have to go into the config, click 'start' under the printer preferences, and supply my username and password. Yet next time I start my computer up, it's reset back to being stopped. I use Ubuntu 8.10; this never happened in 8.04 and only happened since I upgraded a week or so ago.

Thanks for any help.

Look into the /etc/cups/printers.conf file, you should find a line :
Accepting Yes
for your printer there.
If you have 'Accepting No', you can change it under root.
And restart cupsd.

I don't know why it doesn't keep that, but maybe it's a permission issue.
You should check if all the permissions are ok.

You should have a lp group on your machine and be a member of it, and give write permission to the group for the files in /etc/cups.
