Hello

I installed VMware, ran incognito on my desktop in vista. i select install on usb, whichs works.

I turn off VMware reboot and prompt my usb compatible MB to boot from usb, bios set that way etc...

it doesnt detect the usb or incognito and just goes to windows.

i need more info as to how i can put my usb anywhere turn a computer on and run it from the usb. the info i have is lacking and just dont get it. i am a newbie to linux.

i can run from the usb on a VMware once in windows but not from a cold boot with no windows, which is what i want.

I've used this approach (although I ran VMWare under Linux) and it works perfectly.

No additional information should be needed. It really is as simple as running the USB installation script under Incognito and then reboot or start it on any other computer (which can boot from USB of course).

That it's possible to boot from the USB drive in VMWare indicates that the USB drive probably is OK. Do you have another computer to test it on?

In my experience, some systems have problems booting from USB, my own workstation included. So the problem could be with your system. One way to rule that out is if you can boot some other Linux distro from USB. For that this tool might come in handy: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
