extremely slow connecting to internet

i tried the latest 2008.1-r1 cd on several computers and networks and on all of them i see this warning and it is slow to get started or doesnt connect at all, though the computers work fine booting another operating system.

does this affect anything and how can i fix it? editing torrc didnt fix it and i couldnt find any way to get at the tork config which sets this.

That doesn't have any adverse effects on Tor's speed -- just ignore it.

I've noticed that the longer you let Tor run before you get Internet connectivity, the longer it'll take for Tor to start, and in some extreme cases it seems to get completely stuck. The only solution I've found is to simply restart Tor:
