Autostarting programs using GDM

I have my mythtv frontend system set to autologin the mythtv user using GDM. I need it to start the myth transcoding daemon running in the background and then start mythfrontend when X starts.

How can I set up GDM to automatically run some programs when X starts? It seems to be ignoring anything I put in my .xinitrc... that seems to only run when I start x using the startx script.

You can put lines like this in a user's .xsession file :
xscreensaver &
/usr/X11R6/bin/numlockx
/usr/bin/enlightenment

to have these things started when the user logs into X.
Perhaps that will do what you need.
