Back in 2007 I first installed Gentoo, and within a few weeks had created the most flexible, robust Lx install I'd ever used. Over the nest twelve months I customized it to a point where I was afraid ever to leave it; but, about to leave fo several months in Beijing, I swapped over to PCLinuxOS simply because I couldn't save the necessaries to transfer my favourite system to the new laptop I purchased there.
I'm now one of (maybe several, maybe many) Gentoo orphans who'd like to return to the Source Distro, but after reading some of the political wranglings that have resulted in the Gentoo/Funtoo split, I'm a bit confused (and I HATE politics). I used to use Fvwm under Gentoo, but switched to KDE 3.5 under PCLOS. KDE 4.x is a glitzy dog of a Deskop IM(not so)HO, and I'd much prefer to use Gentoo/Funtoo with an up-to-date KDE 3.x Desktop.
Does this strike any resonant chords in the anticipated readership of this post?
