webkit-gtk-1.2.7 fails to build

After just over 3 hours (on a netbook), the emerge of webkit-gtk-1.2.7 falls over saying it cannot find libwebkit-1.0.1a.

locate shows a file of that name in /usr/lib/.

Code:
...
/bin/mkdir -p ./.deps/DerivedSources
  CXXLD libJavaScriptCore.la
  CXXLD TestNetscapePlugin/libtestnetscapeplugin.la
  CXXLD Programs/jsc
  CCLD Programs/minidom
  CCLD Programs/GtkLauncher
  CXXLD Programs/DumpRenderTree
  CXXLD libwebkit-1.0.la
libtool: link: cannot find the library `libwebkit-1.0.la' or unhandled argument `libwebkit-1.0.la'
make[1]: *** [Programs/GtkLauncher] Error 1
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
libtool: link: cannot find the library `libwebkit-1.0.la' or unhandled argument `libwebkit-1.0.la'
make[1]: *** [Programs/DumpRenderTree] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/net-libs/webkit-gtk-1.2.7/work/webkit-1.2.7'
make: *** [all] Error 2
emake failed
Surely webkit could be broken up into more manageable pieces.

`libwebkit-1.0.la' is created from the webkit source. ( Or gtk-webkit source ? )
(The .la (.LA) file is a "libtool library file" : A very small text file,
most often about 1 kB, but libwebkit-1.0.la is 2.6 kB.)

'.la' files are not always installed, but easy to write.
Or edit from an already existing version.
"libwebkit-1.0.la" is attached as libwebkit-1.0.la.txt
.
Attached Files
File Type: txt libwebkit-1.0.la.txt (2.6 KB, 17 views)

Thanks.
Where do I put it so CXXLD can see it?

The location for files.la is /usr/lib/ (Or /usr/lib64/).

Also :
Your libtool script may be looking for a libwebkit-1.0.la created inside webkit-1.2.7/.
( CXX or LD are not using libwebkit-1.0.la ).

Gentoo has a tool to fix la files, I don't know if it will solve your concrete problem. I'd suggest using it instead of doing manual changes because the problem with manual changes is that in a couple of month you won't remember what you did.

To use it, just emerge lafilefixer, and run "lafilefixer --justfixit".
