Acroread print hugly when page is rotated

Hi all,
lately I haven't been able to print decent documents with acroread when trying the option two pages per sheet (rotated A4).

The characters are larger than normal making the document unreadable.

I tried to convert the document to ps format both printing it as files with acroread and using pdftops but the printing quality doesn't change.

I eventually solved the problem this way:

pdftops file.pdf (or print on ps file with acroread 2 pages per sheet)
psnum -2 file.ps file_2.ps (convert single page doc in 2 page per sheet doc)
ps2ps file_2.ps file_3.ps
lpr -P Xerox file_3.ps (now the printout is readable... and huge)

but I am not really aware about why this is working.

I would be grateful if someone could put some light on this.

Thanks,
Pier

Hello Pier,

I didn't know most of the commands you've used
But according to the manpage for ps2ps, this tool simplifies the postscript-file. I think that converting two files into one (two pages on one sheet) make a complicated postscript code which is not correctly read by the printerdriver. This is corrected by ps2ps.

But I think if you really want a better answer, you should post this issue in another part of forum like the software-forum http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ux-software-2/
Be aware that this issue isn't actually Gentoo-related.

Markus
