Xp is a Gateway to linux

HellO...

I got used to use my Xp as a gateway but many times suddenly it stop
forwarding the connection
sometimes it just allow www.google.com and nothing else
and in the same time i can ping sites and sending mails from my linux box

but i noticed that when this problem happen i see in My Connection details

PPP multilink framing OFF....
and i got tired trying to find from where can i change that ...
is it related to my ISP or something..??..

routing OK , pinging OK and even samba OK

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------and what about linux forwarding the connection ...
How this could be done ..?...

why don't you try putting your xp box behind the linux box? It would be more stable and offer your xp box that extra layer of protection to keep off viruses etc. Check out a neat little app called firestarter.

i take it you are using ICS in windows? that is a very common problem and it is a problem with ICS that goes back to win98SE. only fix i knew of then was to reboot the main system, and the 2nd, 3rd, etc.. systems until it came up and worked. the poster above me has a very good suggestion. put the XP box behind your linux box and you will have far fewer problems.
