Why no cargo ships with humanitarian aid in and hospitalised civilians out?

Best to avoid discussing all the terrible events in or near Gaza, but-

It's on the coast, why has nothing been mentioned in the media - at least where I live - about sending in emergency humanitarian supplies by ship, and taking civilian medical cases out by the same ships also?

Because the whole situation in Palestine/Israel is a large case of extreme double standards and hypocrisy by western governments and their media allies. Israel has committed the kind of human rights abuses over several decades, which got Arab countries (with abundant oil or gas reserves) on the receiving end of a US/UK/EU backed invasion of "regime change"...

The western media, which pushes the establishment narrative, works hard to cover up or gloss over the abuses of the Israeli state and focuses on deflecting all blame onto Hamas, the "terrorists" and not on the plight of the oppressed people of Gaza or the West Bank - people who have had to suffer the occupation of their homeland by a heavily armed nuclear power who are backed by the US. A "colonial" power, who in fact seek to drive them over the borders and end "the problem".

Might as well ban this thread.

Guess people could live in peace. They could, do they want to?

There is plenty of atrocity and blame to be shared by all sides in any war. That's just the nature of the beast when basic survival is or seems at stake. Nevertheless, degree matters. There is a reason that the punishment for petty crime is less than major crimes and murder is the highest crime in nearly every system of law or morality... with one exception. That exception seems to sit with fundamentalist religions and especially when they also have political power. Those entities are almost never democracies. They are nearly always authoritarian requiring everyone alive to be the same, or be dead usually because those who don't believe the State Religion are seen as subhuman or demonic.

So for anyone who actually cares about tolerance for freedom of thought and action within a representative lawful construct, it isn't very hard to identify the Prime Movers that own the bulk of the blame and condemnation.

There are basically only two ways to resolve conflict of any kind, negotiation or coercion. Coercion ultimately comes down to suppression to the most final point of murder. So any organization that refuses to negotiate AND absolves, let alone celebrates, the murder of anyone who disagrees, let alone innocent bystanders, should de facto be the ones guilty of the major crime. That should be the obvious bottom line.

Use this to identify who is most to blame or who you'd prefer as a neighbor.

I'm old; I've lived on this rock for 66 years. I've been a political junkie for decades. I have no idea what the answer is for the troubled mid-east. The current situation is resolving itself badly and many good people will die. I'm praying for peace, but, I am less than optimistic.

Nobody's answered my question yet, but some quick online searching which I should have done beforehand, indicates that Gaza is blockaded by Egypt and Israel by land air and sea.

To answer the OP question, the blockades have them trapped and that is by design unfortunately.

This will go down as one of the worst humanitarian crises/war crimes in world history. The Palestinians are being wiped out via: starvation, dehydration, and death via no food, electricity, explosions etc... How can the world look the other way when one country cuts off all access to food, water and fuel/electricity to another country/group of people. How can the world look the other way when the leader(s) of a country publicly states that one life of "our" people is worth many times more than the lives of those not of "our" people. [Vagueness added to not add flame to the fuel.]

Regarding what would prevent this or improve this long term, it's a simple solution, return Palestine to its Pre-1948 borders, then have Israel as territory within Palestine. If that cannot be worked out or if Israel refuses then dissolve the entire thing and make it a UN territory under a shared UN government. After all it was the UN that created this mess in the first place.

They can and should but governments and corporations gain too much profit and power from war, peace benefits the people but not the economy of war & power.

If you are trying to kill a family, and they are trying to kill you, you do not throw them first aid kits. Both sides are trying to totally eliminate the other. The Israeli people do not want this, but their radical conservative arm and government do. The Palesinian people do not want this, but Hamas and the other radical terrorist groups do. The innocent on both sides suffer, and that is the entire objective.

Well said.
But I think there's a more simple solution. Let all Palestinian refugees return to their country. Then hold a referendum with the participation of all Muslims, Jews and Christians and let them freely choose their government and the name of the country. A true democracy without ethnic and religious prejudices and racial supremacy.
After 46 years of living under the rule of the mullahs in Iran, I have realized first hand that the the religious backed government, Even if it has the appearance of democracy, will lead to apartheid.

Sorry for my English.

Israel was not a natural country, it was established as a safe haven for Jews after the Nazi killings of millions. It was established by the allied nations after WWII (1948) as a Jewish state. The original idea was that Israel would be all Jews, and Jordan would be all Arabs, and they would be happy neighbors. Why anyone thought that would actually work out that way is unclear.

Expecting Jews to accept others whose leaders have called the the execution of all Jews worldwide as part of their voting population is unrealistic. Expecting Arabs to live among Jews without rights, well that is apartheid isn't it.

There is no simple solution that will work. It started wrong, although for all the best reasons, and has been going on wrong ever since. It is likely to end badly. And no one has come up with a solution that will work. (Although Clinton came VERY close during his time as POTUS.)

Yes, my solution is very optimistic. At least as long as the extreme right movements (Likud in Israel and Hamas in Gaza) are in charge. More liberal movements such as Kadima in Israel and Fatah in Palestine are in favor of a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders. The problem is that this solution will definitely not be accepted by the majority of Jews and Muslims.
