I have been tempted to purchase one for awhile.
Any cons?
There are many reviews of Roomba on the internet. Search for reviews and read them, it is easy. In one of reviews I saw before, author complained that roomba didn't have enough "beacons" for making "virtual walls" (or whatever it is called). He also mentioned that roomba had problems reaching home base if there are many virtual walls, and he mentioned something about quality of wheels, etc. This information is dated and unverified, situation could change since robot is probably being developed. Search for reviews yourself instead of asking.
My grandma got a Roomba as a mother's day present, and it's very effective at cleaning up carpets. She'll put it in the living room or bedroom, close the door, and leave it alone for about an hour. It'll clean the floor very nicely without damaging the walls or furniture.
Of course, my grandma maintains a just-about spotless house, so there aren't many obstacles on the floor for it to bump into.
It's not a heavy duty vacuum cleaner, of course, but it excels at doing that "extra bit" of work.

I guess with models superior to >= 560, you have a great product.
Still after lot of use. No problems. I have only one virtual wall. Great daily cleaner
My mom has had one for a few years and recently bought me one. Its an awesome little device. It does take some getting used to though. Sometimes it does get hung up on certain kinds of carpet, floor vents, etc. But once you run it a few times you get the hang of where it gets stuck and can usually find a way to roomba proof your house.
I only have one virtual wall and have to uses boxes to block off rooms so I may end up buying 2 more virtual walls. It's great for spot cleaning and picking up pet hair. But I still use a full size vac for heavy duty dirt/spills/etc.

I don't own roomba myself (it won't be useful for me anyway - too big for small rooms, probably will get stuck in the computer wires on the floor). I simply posted what I saw in the reviews.
It is good to hear that these things actually work as intended. I always envisioned this device to be something that would scare the heck out of my cats and dog.
