VM Backup

I am interested in how you would go about backing up a server running virtual machines.

Say you have a server and it is running with xen and then 4 centos operating systems with websites. How would you go about backing this server up in case the server catches on fire and or if something magically just crashes the whole system down.

I would like to know how to do this with a good backup tool and more interested to know how to do this just from the command line if possible.

That depends on the type of disks the vm's are using. If you use lvm you could do hot backups/snapshot disk images. You could also make copies of the images, though this could lead to corrupt databases and such it will still work in a pinch.

More details are required to answer your question properly.

You could use backuppc to backup the systems.
