there is no option for vim :/ vi and vim are slightly different. I often end up doing things wrong if i try to use vi(elvis)

Well, so far it seems that my suspicions were correct . . . LQers are overwhelmingly vi fans. It only seemed logical that this would be the case.

Emacs with GNU Screen (and a custom ".screenrc") is still my main DE on many systems :-}

Vi/Nano for small things.

I've always used emacs. Its just what I started with, and continue to use. No real reason other than that.

I think this debate is closed. Every poll on this subject you see on the entire web will say that vi is favored over emacs. Many emacs fans will try to make you think that the debate is not closed (and many authors on beginner books on linux/unix will try to slip it in), but the fact of the matter is, vim is to emacs what Star Wars is to Star Trek, decided.

I like vim because it's light weight. Isn't that what it's all about in the linux world?
