Let's see... right now (May 30, 2010) aapl is $257 a share with 909 million shares. Msft is $25 a share with 8 billion shares.

Code:
257*909000000 = 233613000000
25*8000000000 = 200000000000
Hey, you're actually right!

It actually was in USA Today on Thursday: Apple had surpassed M$ as the world's largest tech company.

I posted a thread about it already.
Market capitalisation is about the most meaningless measure of 'size' though. Revenues, profits, or total assets would all be more appropriate.

I don't think stocks mean alot though.
Windows still has 95% of the market share and i think M$ has more $$$.

Actually, it's the iPhone that gives Apple the most profit. That market is where Apple is dominant, perhaps to more than 40%. Actually, especially here in California, I have seen more iPhones, especially belonging to my peers, than BlackBerries!

That said, M$'s monopolism is better than 4pp13's fascism.

OpenOffice.org, KOffice, and GNOME Office cost $0 and are free to use, modify, and redistribute.

And is that intended as advertising?

Hi,

I would check with campus bookstores first as they have deals all the time on academic versions.

Yep, and we are the fools for helping him.

I'm not bothering with him anymore. It's a waste of time and energy.

This is by far the best news I've heard in a while.

BTW: You can get regular software for Linux that you pay for. Star Office, Cedega, Nero for Linux, & perhaps even Work Perfect or some of the Adobe Acrobat software is all available for Linux. WINE and Cedega will also run many M$ software applications for Linux. Of course, giving M$ money for anything is a last resort.

Any idea why you didn't capitalize the first letter in that sentence?

Proprietary software is fascist, plain and simple. If you can fall into its trap and don't want to get out, you're obviously too dumb to be on these forums.
