technical problem

I assembled a PC with the folloeing specifications:
-msi 6337 m/b
-866 pentium 2
-512 mb ram
-cd-rw
-dvd-rom
-230 or 250 watt psu

In fact the psu,the m/b, the ram, and the CPU were contained together in a differnt box. Now i have the following problem.
The PC starts, displays the information of the CPU and freezes- cannot enter bios. I noticed the following for the CPU fan. At the point of the freeze, the fan slowly stops; lowers the speed a little, then tries to continue, but eventually fades out within a second.
HELP. I hope i didn't damage anything.

I took out the 2 optical drivers and now after the recognition of the CPU and the display of its specifications the word "Voltage" appears. What's the problem? I have left only an ATI Radeon 7500 (the old card was a Matrox g450).

Is it beeping at you ?

sometimes a mobo will report errors in beeps at start-up

alternatively you can buy a PCI card
that will display what the error messages are

heres a place with one
http://store.mgram.com.au/default.asp
they dont have a page for it, but if you type
post-code Diagnostic card PCI into their search, it will bring it up

floppy
