I just received two messages in my Yahoo! Bulk. Take a look:

Each of them contain an attachment. Guess what happens when I try to download them to my PC? You guessed right:

File type: application/x-msdownload
Scan result: Virus "W32.Swen.A@mm" found.

The file attached to this message was infected with a virus that we were unable to clean. You can not download this attachment.

Of course I was expecting this from the moment I saw that the messages were stored in Bulk instead of Inbox while they came from Micro$oft and I was 100% sure of what the attachments contain when I looked at the sender's address.

I'm just thinking what could happen to someone who would be so naive to think they're actually from M$ and what if Yahoo! didn't have AV scanners for attachments.

Otherwise I have no comments...errr...GO Micro$oft!

Years ago, I had gotten sick of changing my e-mail address every time my Isp went under. I made a largely arbitrary guess that Yahoo wasn't going anywhere, so I signed up for a Yahoo e-mail account.

Man, that was the best guess I've ever made in my whole life. Yahoo's Bulk e-mail filter has made my life so much easier! Many of my friends/family have other free webmail accounts, and none of them have bulk e-mail filtering as good as Yahoo Mail.

Oh--I give thanks to Google's GMail for threatening Yahoo enough to scare them into massively upgrading Yahoo Mail's free mailbox size limit. That was the only aspect where Yahoo Mail didn't measure up to the other free webmail services.
