Strange problem after a failed FBSD install - Help!
I was happily installing FreeBSD 5.0 on my older computer (P3 @ 450mhz) and the installation froze during X configuration. I restarted the comp, and the usual screen with POST and IDE detection appeared, drives were detected as usual, but it never went into boot. It just stays at that first screen showing IDE detection was succesful and "press DEL to enter setup". I can enter CMOS and change settings, but all in vain. I tried to boot off of a CD-ROM, and Floppe, but in vain. It never passes that first screen and it never even attmpts boot. As i said, i can only go to CMOS... What can i do? I can't boot in any way... Should i try removing the CMOS battery?
Thanks for any help!

Well, just in case someone comes over the same problem: Removing the battery from the motherboard worked. I had to go through CMOS and setup everything the way i wanted, but at least the computer goes into boot now. The only thing left is to choose which distro to choose next...

Congrats man. I read your post, but I didn't have a clue what you should have done. I'm thinking about installing freebsd on a spare harddrive as well. Just to check it out.
