SP2 ruined my life...help

I use grub to dual boot between Windows XP Home Edition and Debian. I recently installed service pack 2 for my computer. Now whenever I try to boot up windows I get the screen that tells you that windows did not boot up properly etc etc...then you get to choose a safe mode option. I've tried every option and every single one restarts the computer and boots back to the GRUB prompt. I'm sure other people have had this problem. I don't think it has so much to do with Linux as much as the bootloader. I think the problem is that GRUB isn't recognizing the new kernal the sp2 creates. Any idea how I can fix this problem? Please help.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in General since it's quite clearly not a Linux-question and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

Install a different boot-loader like XOSL and try to boot into your OS. If it's a problem with WinXP then you'll have no choice but to reinstall XP.

In the past when I had dual boot and windows fucked the boot up, playing in the partition table and lilo/grub from your rescue disk helped. Also Suse Rescue system helped me once to fix things.

BUT: This is of course extremely dangerous, only use at last resort.

It sounds though as if not the bootloader is the problem, but SP2 being all microsofty.

Incidently I have the SP2 update world on my MS system, I don't think ill click it until I backed up everything.

I installed SP2 on my laptop 3 years old no problem. I since then chucked MS off and can't get Debian running with touchpad and sound. I kinda can get the touchpad, but mouse and sound together... Its about my 7th Kernel variation now..

So it's not all rosy in Linux world either ..
