Sound Card Trouble

Hey...I'm pretty computer-oriented, but I've run into a problem. I have an AC'97 82801BA/BAM (by Intel) driver for my soundcard...here's the problem. I recently installed a music recording program on my computer (Guitar Tracks Pro by Cakewalk) and when I play MP3's now (after the recent erasing of a hard drive), my Guitar Tracks Pro playback for each track that i record is fine...but the MP3's on my computer play at a higher pitch and at a faster rate than usual. The technician from Cakewalk told me that it was probably a soundcard driver problem, and that I needed to update the driver. But I cannot find anywhere to update this driver that I own. Intel doesn't offer it.

What should I do? Does anyone know where I might find an update for my driver? Or does anyone know of another possible idea of what the problem is with my computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The one thing is that this is the General forum that does not need to have threads strictly about Linux. It said so before I clicked in...

So if anyone could possibly help...
