Reply to Linux is Crap.

I can't reply to posts, so therefore I have to create a new thread.

Anyway, I posted a thread on 'Linux is Crap' and got quite a few replies, unfortunately, the replies have no experience in MS windows, they say that Linux detects and installs driver support for ALL hardware, bull!, MS Windows does a much better job in detecting and installing driver support, they say that to add drivers to Linux, one would have to compile, and create modules, etc, etc, why?, when driver support should already be part of the o/s, you don't have to do all this with MS Windows, and further more, MS WIndows support is ALWAYS available, manufacturers of hardware, (unless it's old ISA cards, or the manufacturers are longer in business) always have updated drivers for MS Windows, can any honestly say, that the hardware manufacturers have drivers that don't need compiling, etc, etc, and can be installed into Linux with just a click of a mouse?, NO, nearly all the drivers I've come across the kernel has to be the same version as the drivers to install, then compile the kernel, and then HOPE that the driver works. None of this has to be done in MS Windows, to install a drivers in windows, one simply downloads the driver, then double clicks on it, and it's installed, with no hassle. If the drivers version is 1.0 and the Windows version is xp, so what!, it will still work.

GIVE UP LINUX USE MS WINDOWS.

I say use what is best for you. I use both Linux and Windows and the reason I am mainly in Windows is because I haven't learned how to do it all in Linux yet. Give it time and I will be mostly in Linux.

My advice to you yakko, is don't even bother learning about Linux, I've had linux on my machine for about 2 weeks, and it nearly broke up my marriage trying every day to get Linux to work properly. I personally advice you to stick to windows. To give you an example of how annoying Linux is, if you want to get on the internet in Linux using Kde, you would need a root password before you even connect, but in windows, just click (or double click) and you're connected.

Yesterday I gave up trying and returned to Windows XP.

GIVE UP LINUX, USE MS WINDOWS.

How stable can a marriage be when your wife (husband?) can't understand some extra hours of work in two weeks?

You don't need a root password to connect. You might need it to configure your computer to access Internet, but not to browse. Now this is not just done to get you type more passwords... it has some security reasons implied. Being able to have a "root" user, you can prevent many unwanted things from happening... I personally like this approach to security, where you actually have to type a password to make important changes to your computer, and those important changes can be anything.

Hey moderators.. isn't there any way to ban people who just come here to spam the forum with "LINUX SUCKS" things? Maybe they can go to WindowsQuestions.org and praise Windows. I've always thought of this place as somewhere to come up with solutions to Linux questions and to discuss Linux happenings... not as a place to flame others.

Usalabs... I closed your other thread for a reason, you are just trolling. what is the possible benefit of posting the threads that you have other than to simply annoy people? you really expect people here to pay attention to you simply because you know how to make your text larger on a vbulletin site??

I could easily start talking about how i have LOADS of windows experience. Absolutely tons of the stuff, and how at work, my XP machine works superbly... or how maybe you should go tell IBM that Linjux sucks, so they don't waste yet another hundred million dollars on it.. but i'm not going to. i'm just going to close this thread reminding you that there is no point even thinking about a "reply to reply to linux is crap" because we don't want to hear it.

if you have issues with the way your posts have been handled, please contact jeremy DIRECTLY and do NOT start another thread saying exactly the same thing again. thanks
