reading and copying files in ext2 from winXP box

Hi guys!

My real problem is not using winXp to read files that are in a ext2 partition, my problem is to read and copy those files that have NAMES NOT ALLOWED IN WINDOWS.

I'll be more clear.

I have an hard disk of a machine with linux embedded and with 2 ext2 partitions.
I need to read the files in those partitions (I just need to read them, I don't need to modify them) and to copy them on an NTFS partition; this must be done in windows XP.

Many many files inside ext2 partition have names with characters (like ":") not allowed in windows and so I can't copy them!!!

I can't alter those partitions neither those files and, for reasons I can't say here, I would prefer that this reading-copying operation must happen in winXP.

I found some simple application that do the job (if you know others please let me know):

ext2 IFS (Installable File System For Windows)
http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html

Explore2fs
http://www.chrysocome.net/explore2fs

ext2 IFS mounts in winXP my ext2 partitions and let me see correctly their content; if I copy some files with valid names (for windows) then it's all ok, but if I try to copy some files with names with ':' then I receive errors saying that it's impossible to copy...
the saddest thing is: those files are a lot!!

Explore2fs let me see the content of my ext2 partitions (but it does not mount any windows device) and let export those files ONE AT TIME, changing correctly files' names (while copying it sobstitute ':' with '=').
If I try to export 2 or more files it says it executes correctly... but it copies NOTHING!

I prefer ext2 IFS to se my partitions as windows devices, but if it does not convert files' names with ':' I can't use it...

Have you ever had experiences with these problems?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion or idea!!

Hmmm........... You can try the Ext2 IFS was written by John Newbigin the same person that originaly wrote explore2fs;

http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/ext2ifs.htm

And if you scroll down the page you will find other sources to try(Some Other Drivers).
