New Linux Box Configuration

well i cant really see this fitting the 'help' sections above so i can put it in general, im really only after feedback not 'help'

Im a Slackware 'owned' individual who no longer will try another distro; i love it. However my primary box is an iBook G4 12"; 640MB DDR; 40GB HD; etc etc etc but i want to remove my MAC OS usage to a mimimum and get back on with slackware. Im selling alot of my things in the hope to get some money to fund a new linux box, the spec i am going with is really split between two... one for if i can sell everything... and the other for if i run short.

One question, i want to run a web server (Apache) on my current ADSL (256k) connection for mainly being a test site... the computer will double up as my workstation. How well will slackware run on the following configuration:

AMD AthlonXP 2600 - 333FSB
512MB DDR - PC3200
60GB - 7200RPM - IDE HD
52x24x52 CD-RW - Beige
Onboard GFX
Onboard Sound
Onboard 10/100 NIC

That can all be bought for ~£400GBP along with 17" CRT keyboard etc... Will that run okay or do you reckon id be better trying my best to get this config:

AMD Athlon XP3200 - 400 FSB;
Kingston 1GB DDR - PC2700
ExcelStor 80GB IDE 7200rpm HD
Sony DVD-ROM / CD-RW Combi (Silver)
On-Board Video
On-Board 5.1 Sound
On-Board 10/100 Fast Ethernet
10/100 PCI NIC

Which come in at ~£700GBP; it also include cathodes, window case etc 17" CRT Black monitor and the usual. Aswell as a USB/Ethernet NAT Router/ADSL Modem.
but will it run cool on the first system?

Well if you have used slackware before, and I will take a guess that it was on an older system than the 2 that you are looking, then yes slack will run fine on either of them. Just check some of the hardware to see if it is compatible.

That hardware you have listed will work great. I see no reason why it wouldn't. But make sure the hardware is compatible.
