Question Need Help! From Basic Maths to AI Programming

I have decided to be a AI Programmer.I Know one needs a sound Knowledge in Mathematics.Therefore considering myself newbie in maths.I would like advice from Mathematicians & Open-Source Programmers from where could I start learning Maths from Basic(What is Mathematics) to the level of AI programming.But One thing is that I Like to Understand Math than memorizing it. So Please, Somebody help me on with Resource & Guidance !!!! Thank you in Advance for your support.

I recommend the book "Introduction to Algebra" by Peter Cameron. It covers mathematical foundations starting with set theory, up through field theory, complex numbers, coding, etc. It is quite broad with just enough explanation of each topic.

Learning math is a good background for AI because it teaches you to think rigorously and to manipulate symbols.

Hi,

You must realize there are basics & rules that preclude "Introduction to Algebra". Math is important whenever you do computational methods in 'AI' or any computational arena.

It's great to set goals but please be realistic. You cannot just jump in without having basic backgrounds in supporting section(s)/disciplines.
Not saying you cannot be self taught. But you must prepare yourself by learning specifics that will enhance skills as you learn and reach your goal.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

@greentiger2, welcome to the forums.

That's a very general and broad goal. Nothing wrong with it, but one has to start somewhere. What might be helpful is an understanding of where you are, at present with respect to knowledge of Math and programming. It would also be helpful to know what resources may or may not be at your disposal. For instance, do you own a computer and have the capability to begin programming with it? And would you be able and willing to expend your time viewing learning material for both subjects? Because I'm sure people can recommend more focused information, but beyond smallpond's recommendation, and without an idea whether or not that level of book is too basic or too advanced for you, then people can't really offer much. In fact someone with expert AI experience may offer references to learned papers cover highly detailed subjects in that field, but if that information is way above your current experience level, then it won't yet be very helpful.

Khan Academy.

Also, if this is for games, then I recommend a book called "Programming Game AI By Example".
