Movies to avoid ! Nonsensical, terrible, mad, worthless movies.

Since there's a thread of movies to go see, this is a thread of movies to avoid seeing, because they are either or a combination of: worthless, nonsensical, terrible plot and/or actors, the producer needs a psychiatric evaluation ASAP, the script writers need to be executed by firing squad, the movie leaves you wanting to commit seppuku so that you may at least die honorably, and may also be accompanied by a feeling of worthlessness, disgust, rage, hatred, the uncontrollable urge to kill, etc.

I'm sure we can all agree upon a good number of movies guilty of the above, and of course there will also be disagreements based upon taste. You can add reasons if you want to be more convincing.

Here's a few that I remember:

Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009) - terrible producer, actors, script writers, terrible nonsensical plot, waste of time.

Transformers (2007) - worst acting and scripts I've ever seen, notice how the transformers can never physically touch or affect anyone probably because of low budget.

Pan's Labyrinth (2006) - producer needs immediate psychiatric evaluation, if you watch this movie seppuku may be the only way out of the overwhelming feeling of disgust and worthlessness.

The Prestige (2006) - nonsensical plot, what is the moral or point of this story ? none, waste of time, leaves you with a feeling of disgust.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) - more boring than reading a book of law, even if you fast forward chances of falling asleep are high.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007) - I personally hated this movie, the plot is dumb, the action is surreal and not all that good, tons of propaganda, acting is quite bad, scripts are bad. If you want it is watchable just barely, I can't say it doesn't have action, but you won't feel it.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) - a shameful addition to the series, plot is absolute nonsense, acting is terrible (if the new Indiana Jones is that kid, I will never watch one again), script is terrible, action is surreal (the part with the refrigerator and more), when will Harrison Ford accept that he's an old man.

Goya's Ghosts (2006) - if you want to be left with a feeling of disgust, emptiness, hatred, then do watch it. The only bonus here is Natalie Portman.

Waterworld (1995) - my prescription for insomnia, money back guarantee. (Note: I've never watched the whole movie, I fell asleep)

The Perfect Storm (2000) - dumb, no point, don't watch.

Titanic (1997) - only bonus is Kate Winslet, otherwise worthless.

I'm sure more will pop into my head.

LOL

actually, Tex, most all the movies nowadays are stupid, shallow, bad acting, etc

I mean really; anything that involves a bunch of computer special effects i avoid

Stuntmen are probably a dying breed

Special effects in B movies from 70's/80's is better than alot of what I'm seeing

I concur with your list above, all bad.

just one action scene to another in todays flics, no depth of plot, etc

My worst movie of recent?

Any SciFi Channel Original Movie

Yeah, I know most movies nowadays qualify, but try to pick the worst ones even if they all suck, the ones that nobody would like.

Any involving Quentin Tarantino as a writer and/or director. Unrealistic dialogue and glorified cartoonish violence.
Braveheart: full to overflowing of historical inaccuracies.

Indeed, but it does try to make up for it with blood and gore and more blood and gore ! I'm sure that satisfies most people enough to call it a decent movie.

I quite like blood & gore, as long as it's realistic. I think Wallace was the first person to be hung, drawn, and quartered - they devised that punishment specially for him, thought it was great and used it thereafter for all traitors. Bring it back, I say! Televise it!!
(Actually, it should be: drawn, hung, and quartered.)

Jindabyne - nothing really happens. I hear people like it for the "suspense", but I didn't find it enjoyable at all, for the aforementioned reason.

Wrong. Either order can be used, since the term 'drawn' refers both to the victim being dragged to the place of hanging, and also to the victim being disembowled - having their entrails drawn out from their body - while still alive.

It is, however, "hanged", not hung.

Yes, you're right about "drawn". I should engage brain before typing.

Erm, the hanging in question was not always until dead, btw. Hanging, then drawing and then quartering seems right to me.

And The Prestige was pretty good, by the way. Fairly close to the book it came from and had David Bowie in it.

Hmmm.. Lots of differing opinions here.

Unlike BrianL, I love Tarantino movies, but I admit, Kill Bill was not great IMO. Pulp Fiction on the other hand is one of my favorite movies ever.

I agree with much that Linus72 wrote, but I don't agree 100% with TexmeX' "bad movie" list, but most of those listed were bad, yes.

Schindlers List was loooong, and could be perceived as drawn out and boring, but I don't nominate it for the "bad movie" list. It was pretty good, for what it was.

My nominations for some really bad, stupid movies that nobody should watch: "Superman Returns"; "Supergirl"; "Club Dread"; -- and pretty much anything else based on a comic book :/

Yeah, of the two possible meanings of "drawing", I was referring to "drawn to the place of execution on a hurdle".

I actually was kinda curious about Inglorious Bastards. I saw the previews for the first Kill Bill, needless to say it was enough, no reason to see the movie. Pulp Fiction is a classic though.

Everybody is now drooling over Avatar, but honestly I don't see why. I don't find it interesting. I still have yet to see Oliver Stone's 'W', and of course Bill Maher's Religulous.

As far as horror movies are concerned, why bother? Just go ahead and get the original Japanese or Korean of whatever horror movie you want to see nowadays. I don't care much for the Hollywood versions anyways. Example: For those who actually saw the movie "The Uninvited." Sheer and utter CRAP! And of course, based of a Korean horror movie: A tale of two sisters, which I saw in comparison, and is waaaay better anyways.
