First own computer that I owned was a MOS Technology KIM-1 (1MHz 6502, 2KB RAM, upgraded quickly to 4KB to be able to run Tiny BASIC, 6 digit LED display, hex keypad, compact cassette tape recorder), the first computer I actually used was a PDP-8 (teletype terminal), running a version of Wirth's Pascal compiler, both in 1976...

Cool My First Computer

To be honest - my first computer was a training unit from Heathkit. It was an H89 running CPM and ZDos. I had it for 3 months learning BBS,. etc. and then I stepped up to a Z100.

Talking Whippersnappers...

TI99/4A, when a 16-bit cpu was the big deal. If you selected IBM PC/compatible, then you are too young to be answering this poll.

My first computer was a Commodore 64 that I got from a yard sale for $10. No monitor, no floppy drive. Just a cable TV adapter and a cassette deck.

My first "real" computer was an IBM PS/2 Model 50Z. That sucker had a whopping 8 MB of memory (which was amazing at the time) thanks to an Intel memory expansion board.

My first computer was an H89 Radio Shack, had 32K memory, 1 100K 5 1/4" Disk drive, in an all in one case. $2000.00 for the Kit. Wow what a memory to drag up.

I am to young? I am 78 years old right now but I didn't buy a commodore 64, didn't learn or want to learn a DOS system, but I was old enough to learn and buy one, but don't say I wasn't old enough.

Digicomp I

In 1966 I ordered a Digicomp 3 bit mechanical computer from Edmund Scientific. I still have it. Fourteen years later in 1980 my second computer was an Apple ][+.

Yup, that was actually my first own "PC", a pre-series model, which didn't even have the proper rails to mount a hard drive inside stamped out of the metal. 2x 360KB floppy is right, but IIRC, the basic model came with 256KB of RAM (I upgraded to the "full" 640KB after a few weeks).
Basic machine, with MS-DOS 2.11 it cost DM5000 back then...
