Knoppix downloaded burnt ISO by NeoroBurn software is not working!!!
I downloaded the knoppix ISO image from their website and burn it on CD with nueroBurn CD software. I went to file, select burn Image, then selected all files, and pointed to Knippiox iso file. It went everything fine during write up process, but after finishing my CD is not recognied by any CD dive. It is saying; please insert the CD in Cd drive (althoug the CD is in CD drive). What to do???? Did I ruin the CD? Is there any solution now?
As I can only guess this has no linux question in it, but it's rather about a CD Burning software in windoze, I will be moving it to the General forum where questions not related to Linux should go
I don't think you have much of a chance of recovery once the CD is burned. If no drive can read the CD, you may have just not ever gotten a burn started. It's likely though that you are holding a very shiny coaster, nothing more. If you have another CDR or CDRW (preferably CDRW until you figure out exactly how to burn iso's) try burning again. You should only need to point to 1 file, the knoppix iso file, when burning the image. If you are pointing your software to burn more than 1 image file to a single CD, you'll probably be making coasters for quite some time
Good Luck! And for more info on burning iso images, check out: www.linuxiso.org
Maybe you downloaded a corrupted ISO image or it got corrupted when downloading? If you try to do it again and it fails, I would consider downloading the ISO again and trying one more time
Thanks to you all of you, I have pointed out the mistake. Actually CD was not properly burned.
But I still need to know that how can I check that the ISO file which I download is corrupt or good, because I cannot open and see inside!!!! The size is matching as it is mentioned on website.
Using something called MD5 checksum, in windoze there is an application called www.md5summer.org that you should use. Compare the checksum from md5summer to the one you find on the site where you get the knoppix iso. If they match, then it's a good image.
There's also the possibility that you didn't download the file in *binary* mode. If you downloaded from an http server rather than an ftp server, i would give the burn one more try. If it fails, download from an FTP server next time. This will force it to be downloaded in binary mode, rather than ascii (or is it ansi? )
This makes a difference with iso images.
