I get $50 a month to spend on myself and I want to know what I should buy. Here's my options and the reasons for the purchase

A wireless networking card for my Vector Lappy:

To be able to surf the net
use my gmail account as an online HD to backup data

I don't have any other laptop and don't plan on getting one for atleast 3-4 months

the book Knoppix Hacks:

To be able to learn more about Linux, Knoppix and maybe make my own live distro (not that aren't already plenty of those)

Have fun with Linux

Equipment to build tabletop water fountain:

Helps with relaxation

Possible source for other income

PS I don't have enough money buy more then 1.

Though I voted for the wireless card, I am curious about this tabletop fountain. What did you have in mind? This would be kinda cool to try myself. Particularly if I can figure out a linux interface

I voted for the fountain, not sure why.

Hmm just a thought
If you put goldfish in it and big enough pipes you could have goldfish splurting out the top of the fountain.

frogs would be cool too. just imagine the croaks as the frog flys through the air and lands in the pool again

Alternatively.you could put a stacker thingy for your dirty dishes and cutlery at the bottom, add some detergent and have a combo fountain / dishwasher. Next month buy the network card and link to your laptop.

Hey if you had more tiers you could add a section for clothes, way cool

hope this helps

OK OK
so goldfish dont like fountains
what about Salmon
they like leaping out of the water
and climbing waterfalls etc
if you put a life-size bear ( stuffed ) next to the fountain
and connected it the laptop
it could growl and swipe at the salmon
as they pop out the top
Set the whole thing up in your front room
and open to the public
you'll soon have your fountain paid for
and extra for the network card
and the book
and your dishes and clothes cleaned for free
