I have made a number of comments in a number of threads on this site (and on other sites, I assure you) that were both contemptuous and derisive regarding ideologues and morons participating in public debate.
I sneer at those who espouse their opinions, filled with rhetoric that shows - nay, that promises that they know better than you and that if you don't agree with them then you are inferior to them - and I do this regardless of the political affiliation of the moron who is so pontificating. That the person so pontificating seldom knows what they are talking about and practically never can put forth a rational, fact-filled, reasonable argument is the reason for the sneer.
Every now and then, something surfaces that is metaphysically perfect, when it comes to making my point for me. Peggy West of the Milwaukee Board of Supervisors, I salute you. You are probably THE ideological moron of the decade.
Reegardless of the fact that discusions should always be brought to the objectve and rational arena, for the sake of fairness and clearness of communication, one must never forget that the starting point of any discussion is "Ideology" or "moronification", subjectivism and lack of rationality ( can rationality cope with subjectivism...?! don't think so )... in short :
Everyone is a bit of an ideologue, for if he(she) wasnt, there would simply not be any discussion for start...
Reality is Unique, yet the form we Humans understand it is our own, it is NOT reality therefore, but OUR perception of it we all discuss about...

... "Ideology" at its best, IMHO...
EVERYONE holds an ideological stance; that is indisputable.
And, that is not at all a bad thing...when it is expressed properly. "Reasonable people can reasonably disagree".
But an ideologue is a person who is so totally invested in his ideology that he can't consider another's viewpoint and generally he believes that those who disagree with him do so because they are either stupid or unenlightened. His attempts to enlighten them falling on deaf ears, he concludes they are stupid.
Since he is metaphysically RIGHT, then facts, background, fairness, pragmatism - in short, reality - won't be allowed to intrude. This person can very often be identified by his rhetoric.
In the case of Peggy here, her rhetoric was not in and of itself inflammatory, but it clearly described a position that she could not support by ANY facts; the one glaring "fact" she presented made her look distinctly unintelligent.
Clearly, Peggy had prejudged a situation that is increasingly dangerous and quite complex from an ideological basis and, not bothering with any investigation and certainly untroubled by facts, she took a stance and spouted.
She's taking a severe pounding in the American press, and she certainly deserves it. She is a major, major laughingstock in this country right now.
But, frankly, she quite adequately represents the quality of much of the so-called debate that goes on in this country these days. Further, she is an elected official and has an absolute obligation to know what she is talking about when she sits in that chamber and spouts.
People get the kind of government they deserve. It wasn't always like this.
People get the kind of government they deserve. It wasn't always like this.
And it can be different if Americans wish so...
Democracies should be "washed" from low-quality, substandard representatives, who do not have the proper moral, ethical and intellectual qualifications to represent not even their Dogs...

And the person who will make the decisions regarding what the "proper" moral, ethical, and intellectual qualifications are, and whether the candidate satisfies those qualifications is whom, Alex?

It is not a person... it is a handful of people, that feeling somthing done by someone in charge ( that one who should be "washed" out ) is rather undemocratical, despite the fact that all they live in a purported Democracy, decides to take over...
Democracies are great... provided there are "watchmen" who are willing to keep them great at all costs, with the sacrifices of their lives if necessary...
The main problems with "Democracies" is that some supposedly "elected" democratic representatives can do whatever they want, while remaining "in the Shadow" of the democratic regime...
Did you check the link i posted ...?
Despite the fact that most of those Navy and Army officers were Sentenced to Death or Imprisonment, they are remembered as heros, and their action was not in vain...
Dying as a consequence of what they did was a great Honor for them...
Most of the corrupt politicians resigned, or were forced to do it...
Democracy was ill so they had to use lethal force, to make it sane again... Institutions were corroded by corruption...
