i never liked those comercials overly well, the best one i sliked was the one were it says the boy (linux) was adopted by the world, it would be better iof tehy could at least say that there talking about the linux OS, i mean, the word linux is barly available for a second or so, then some text wich i 4got but could barly read cuse it was around for only half a second (not that it matered, i only need that much time to read the owrds od such litle text, but thats onyl cuse iv been doing it for a year or so now)

but the window idea is good, jsut say its a OS PLZZZ!, like have a windows logo (everyone has seen them) then get a penguin (cuse there no real offical logo for linux, onyl a penguin that can be doing anything ) and have the guy talk to the windows logo and say what he wants to do and teh logo all start pushing him around, then he goes to the pengiun and tells him so go trash windows so he can get a cookie or somthing, and the penguin does it with only 1 question at most (deleted, or mutalated? )

o and yea 1 more thing, is that kid in the imb comercials suposed to be german (in teh US theres a tendency iv seen to aume blone hair and blue eyes are german (esp the kid boys :S )

it doesn't work because of the console = "_master" bug

they are aware of the problem and will hopefully fix it soon.

the tv commercials are over here

I'm still trying to get them to apply the easy fix. People that actually use the operating system IBM is promoting ought to be able to view the commercials that sing it's praise.

Exactly. I am going to put the link you provided on my website so that more ppl know about it, even though I hardly get any traffic as I haven't updated my site in like 3 months

Cheers.

About the commercials.....

I do not understand what the bitching is all about!
Ok, maybe they didn't choose the best way to portrait Linux and maybe it could have been done differently, but I think that what we see on CNN and NBC it is better than nothing.
I rather see the Linux commercials than the absolut and utter crap Micro**** comes up with!!!

Even if we don't all agree on the style and effectiveness of the IBM ad-campaign, I still think it is great that Linux is being made more visible.

I hadn't caught itt yet during the superbowl, but I have seen it lately during normal programming. They showed some nice devotion at the LWE as well. Not only with their speakers and display etc, but with a giant Linux is Everywhere billboard on right on 12th av

Gotta love it.

I'm starting to see alot of commercials for open source, in fact i just saw one about 2 seconds ago. I just moved over to linux about 2 months ago w/ red hat 9 and recently updated to fedora core 1, and i'm absolutely in love with it. linux is great and it's good to think that alot more people will be joining in on it .

I read somewhere (the register?) that IBM might find a way to screw up all of this momentum it's building with linux. I guess they have their linux desktop (blue linux?) but they won't release it for another couple of years. Critics say that now is their chance to get a foot up on micorsoft with a solid desktop, but that the executives might just miss the boat as they did with os/2. IBM is doing really cool things and I'm excited to see their backing linux (it makes my friends look at me --hey that's what you have on your computer isn't it?). But do you think they can/will mess it up?

u mean there not gonna realse it for YEARS!!!, by then it will be outdated as im sure everyhting will change (more features... *hehe*), but i do think they should release it now, i eman istint a open source distro (they suport open source software, so ud think tehy would let the worl help tehm amke changes to the distro by cvs like any other project (mostly) out there in the linux world
