How do I run a software with .rpm ext. on Windows?
I want to transfare to linux ubuntu, but I couldn't find the OS any were. so I am stuck with windows and I am trying to use the free ware. I downloaded zenoss-2.0.92-0.el5.i386.rpm and I can't seem to install the program. please help is needed on how to install zenoss.rpm.
thanks, I looked at www.ubuntu.com but the file is too big 700 MB and my Internet connection is very slow. ok I can't use the .rpm file I am now downloading Zenoss-2.0.92-0.tar.tar, how do I install the program for a .tar ext.
It should be either a .tar.gz or a .tar.bz2 extension. Internet Explorer has the nasty, irritating habit of changing these to .tar.tar.(Use Firefox). Change the ext. to what it should be and use IZArc or similar unzipping program on it. Then read any README or INSTALL files in the folder.
Did you move this to the wrong General? Shouldn't it go in Linux General?
The initial question is about Windows (i.e. installing rpms on Windows) and not Linux. Windows questions belong in the General forum and not Linux General.
