How can I search IOS apps without using itunes?

I've always been an android user and I decided to go for an ipad mini this time. But before I do, I want to check if my favorite android aapps are available for the ipad IOS.

Do you know the website I need to go to search the apps or do I need to install and use itunes to search the apps?

Doesn't anyone here owned an ipad? If you do, this question should be easy to answer.
