Customer dropped off a system for a work order. A while later I read it. The description of work to be done said:
(I'm paraphrasing, but its real close)
" talked with some one here last week.. was told to go get norton anti virus and try that first. Still has the problem - virus?"
I swear on everything that is good and holy in the universe
... the NAV box was still SEALED!
Maybe the end-user expected that somebody in your shop had, during his previous visit, automagically - by some as yet unheard of means, installed NAV and is now returning the old "parts" to help you analyse the problem.
I do tech support. Many of our customers are. . . not very savvy with computers.
Often times we'll send out an update for some program or another and a customer will install it on a completely different computer, then give us a call and ask why their data is missing. Or uninstall first, or install to a different directory, or any number of things that aren't in the directions and go counter to logic.
