Problem: I can't access my second 40GB Maxtor hard drive in Windows XP.
Info: My IDE devices are set up as follows
Primary Master-40GB Western Digital, Windows XP
Primary Slave-40GB Maxtor, Linux
Secondary Master-DVD-ROM
Secondary Slave-CD-RW
Problem drive-40GB Maxtor connected to a Promise Ultra100 TX2 ATA Controller Card
Any ideas?

When you open the device manager and go to the properties -> Volumes tab, you need to hit the populate button to read the partition information. Try this for each drive.
I've fixed it. The problem was that WinXP won't access a HD that doesn't show up in the BIOS, so I switched it with my CDRW drive, and it showed up perfectly. Had to repartition & format it, but it works beautifully now. I'm currently in the process of moving & organizing my personal data so I can access it from either Linux or WinXP.
