Happy with W7 or W 8.1?….How to permanently block Microsoft’s sneaky Windows 10 “upgrade”

If you are content with Windows 7 or 8.1 and do not wish to run the risk of your computer being surreptitiously “upgraded” by Microsoft to W10, then there is a simple way to stop this permanently.

I am grateful to Dedoimedo for this article about GWX Stopper:
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/w...x-stopper.html

Follow the simple installation instructions.

You may think that you have already stopped the possibility of W10 being installed, but you could well be wrong!

If you see this message after installing GWX Stopper:

Status: Unprotected! Windows update can reactivate GWX again

then you must click on:

Always Block GWX from Running!

You should then see:

Status: Protected! GWX executing is blocked.

**EDIT

NB For those people who have already "upgraded" to W10 and have been receiving W10 updates
, then it may be better to install and use GWX Control Panel:

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computi...ws-10-upgrade/

Read the article closely, especially this part:

The Delete Windows 10 Download Folders button will delete the parts of Windows 10 already downloaded to your system, if they’re there.

If the free upgrade ends on 7/29 so does that mean that automatic 10 updates be removed?
