Why would you want people who have Windows questions to come here? Most people who simply mention Microsoft here get castrated.

Well, we do have the General forum where all questions are welcome! But we just recommend them to go most likely to a Windows forum or such as most here are Linux/Unix guru/geeks. But we always try to attempt in most cases. The windowsquestions.org is more of a joke though.

There is also www.unixquestions.org , www.bsdquestions.org , www.solarisquestions.org and a few others unless Jeremy has let them go unregistered.

I personally dont mind helping people with Windows based questions, but I know there have a been a few people that have gotten an attitude with someone for asking.

I think if you know the answer to any question, why not answer it? Sure this is a Linux forum, but many dual boot, and those questions are few and far between. It would also help the sense of teamwork that Linux stands for and promotes.

Of course, like Tricky said, this is a forum for those that know Linux and want to learn more, and not tailored towards Windows users. In fact, I dont even think to many of our super smart regulars even use Windows at all, like Fine, Tricky, and Kewpster, althought they may be familiar with it.

I guess I am trying to say is that there is no need to get nasty with those that ask, because many have probably been unable to help elsewhere, and they figure that those that know Linux are pretty smart folks, and of course they are right

The theory could always be that if someone is going to windowsquestions.org they are having trouble with windows and they are most likely hating it. They are directed to linuxquestions.org and go "hey, this looks neat." and get involved.

Thats a good point. I never though of that. Not only does linuxquestions.org help you but it can convert you as well. Thats why we have to be all smiles at all times.

That's really stupid man.
If you want to re-direct the "windowsquestions.org" to here, there should have at least a "Windows" forum here.
Now it sounds really stupid and crazy.

If it makes even one blind windoze lover say "what's Linux?" than it has been worth it. This is a purely voluntary OS, unlike some other unmensionables (win). You have to actually use your own brain to decide to switch to Linux. So it sounds like a good way to make people question their blind faith in the crash-happy windoze OS.
