Google Summer of Code?

Does anyone know if there will be a GSOC 2008? The google page has last years stuff still up, and if it happens around the same time, then proposals should be going out soon. I was just kinda curious if anyone knew of any press about this. It kinda looks like they aren't, but I heard stories about Google extending the Summer of Code to other regions - and I didn't think they would have used the word 'extending' if they were canceling it here.
