View Poll Results: Who is your favorite singer or band?
Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Doors, Fleetwood Mac (early), Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Eagles, Talking Heads, Pixies, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails...and more.
My 13 year old neice likes selena gomez. After that and Gaga I'm clueless. I'm much more in line with brianL's list. I can't believe there could be a favorite music list that ignored The Ramones or The Clash though.
I choose 'other.' I also don't know some of the persons listed, but as far as Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, and Lady Gaga is concerned, fingernails on a chalkboard is more musical then they are.
brianL's list comes to mind, minus Fleetwood Mac. and Springsteen.
I also enjoy Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Aerosmith, David Gilmour, Devin Townsend, Dengue Fever (Combodian style rock), Pearl Jam, Soundgarden (I heard they are getting back together), The Who, Queen, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds; going into some more heavier metal: Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Therion, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio(RIP), Ozzy,
I also enjoy some classical works, Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart.
Oh, I missed out Pink Floyd and The Who! And probably more...Oh, Rage Against The Machine, Boards Of Canada, Chemical Brothers...Oh, Garbage, Goldfrapp...
My bestest ones: Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Circus Maximus,
Old Stuff that I like: Dawid Bowie, Queen, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Bad Religion, Pink Floyd, Nick Cave, Miles Davis, Rachmaninoff
New Stuff that I like: Massive Attack, Portishead
and Generally 99% of the things that BrianL mentioned.
I need to look into Richard Wagner. I know I mentioned classical, but lately I have also been getting into classical, and also Blues (Stevie Ray Vaughan), but I also need to listen to more pure Blues as well, (B.B. King unfortunately is the only name that comes to mind, but I need more Blues artists). I like them both which makes sense, being as a listener to heavy rock/metal which draws from Blues and Classical.
I mentioned Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, and I forgot another significant band that had the members of both: Temple Of The Dog. Although that collaborative project only released one album, it was and still is a very good album.
Also Jeff Buckley is a noteworthy mention too. RIP
