solaris isnt based on suse.

in fact it is older than SuSE...

Solaris is based on SunOS which is based on System V
( i use solaris 1.6 occasionally at work with sunview)
(and solaris 2.6 with a very early X implimentation)

the chart i linked to is just in a small point size so SunOS looks like SuSE (same capitalisation)
