I know this may be a dumb place to ask this question, considering most probally make their own web host but here it goes. I work at a small business with about 13 employees and we rely heavily upon our email. We recently switched our web hosting to Network Solutions and we have had no good experiences with them. My boss will not let me set up a web host locally so I am forced to find a hosting company. My boss does not want to spend $100 a month for dedicated either. Has anyone had any good experiences with cheaper hosts (not dirt cheap) that do not have a lot of down time or problems? I would really appreciate some type of feedback, thanks.

You might try Go Daddy http://www.godaddy.com. You can get hosting for as little as $3.95/month all the way up to dedicated servers. I use them for my hosting. Check out their plans.

Always remember though, if your paying $3/month for hosting, and they're paying their customer support $10/h (plus insurance, and perhaps benefits), how much support do you think your really going to get? I'm not bashing these places, they're great for getting a site up, but typically they don't have awesome service, and w/ reason. If your looking for a host for your company, I'd stick to the $20-$40 range. Obviously some places overcharge, but for the most part, you often get what you pay for.

I've been using Yahoo and been reasonably pleased with them. They are a touch pricier than GoDaddy, but reasonably reliable email and web hosting for $15/month isn't too bad. We had a few issues with their SMTP server, but once we yelled loudly enough they fixed it.

One other suggestion to try is HostForWeb www.hostforweb.com . Their uptime is great, their speeds are great and most importantly, so is their support.

I have been using Go Daddy for several years, and have not had any problems with the web site or with email. And they do have several plans, like I said all the way up to virtual dedicated and dedicated servers.

I am using the economy plans and the premium plans, and it worked out very well.

Are you refering to Godaddy or Network solutions?

I do use Godaddy for small business. And the e-mail is fairly reliable in my experience. However you do have to correctly configure the e-mail client to ensure reliability.

For a small business, I would recommend the minimum of a VPS (Virtual Private Server) as you get full control over it at a low cost and if something breaks, its easy to fix.
