conversion Co2 gas into electrical signal

Hi,

I am working on an active device which absorbs the co2 gas and convert the electrical signal.but I dont want to use any other input source (battery) to activate this device /to active the sensor.I want that this device should work independently means it should only take co2 gas and make the electrical signal 0-5v as an output.

can we do this without using any battery/outsource into any device .
Can any device be self active.

Thanks
Surender Sharma

Well, I know that I can't do that, and, as far as I know, no one else has the technology to do it. It would be possible to create a signal, without a battery, but 0-5V seems rather too ambitious (by, maybe, three orders of magnitude). OTOH, if you are doing this, you should be the expert...

Up to a point, these are two different questions (with differing answers), so can you clarify, please?

By the way, using an e-mail address as a user id is usually a good way of ensuring that e-mail is (eventually) bombarded with spam. Are you prepared for that outcome?

Yes, a device can be self active, if the energy source and the operating input can be passively converted to energy. The only example that comes to mind for me, however, is the radio that uses radio waves as its power source. I know there were kits that could do that when I was a kid. The sound was a whisper, tinny and weak, but you could hear the radio.

I suppose you could stretch the analogy to a waterwheel pumping water, where the movement of the water is translated into pump action, but that movement could be the movement of anything, so I don't think it fits your criteria.

Figuring out a catalyst/passive system that converts chemical reactions with CO2 to electricity: Is there such an animal? I have no idea. I took chemistry in high school many, many, moons ago. You are asking an electronics/computer forum a chemistry question. Go find a chemistry forum for your best answer.

It sounds interesting. However, even if it would be a revolution, they would prefer not to implement it since it would cost money. The solutions nuclear energy, solar/wind energy are rather cheap.
But still it pollutes a lot, really a lot.

Could you convert pollution in electrical signal?

The production of materials, end user devices, cars, ... whatever for consumption causes an increased CO2 but a real important pollution. Go in whatever a city, and smell the air (sticks no?) Look athens and its air quality

Wow you people think big. I was thinking that the application of this device would be to make cute robot insects that respond to CO2-emitting mosquito traps.

"Could you convert pollution in electrical signal?" There's a pilot project doing this, IIRC, in UK.
