best video codec

Hello,
I have an uncompressed avi video of a c64 emulated game (16 colors),
and I would like to know which codec/format could be the best to
submit to my friends via e-mail.
Suggestions?

Ogg is definitely best for Linux because it's an open, non-patented standard that Linux strongly supports.

On the other hand, Windows doesn't support Ogg out of the box.

Considering it's from a C64 emulator, I'm pretty sure he means 16 unique colors.

LOL i think leaving it uncompresssed is fine as it will only take
(((framewidth * frameheight) / 2) * (fps * ((min * 60) + sec)) bytes
or 4 x smaller then 65535 color if it truly is in 16 color format.

Why is the area divided by 2 in your equation?

Well, I dumped it from ccs64 emulator.
It is 341 MB, 2 minutes and 7 seconds.
I would like to take it below 10 MB.

No, but there are only 16 colors on screen, so I think it should be compressed fine.
