Can't get Fedora Core 1 (Yarrow) installation to work...
I downloaded all three isos (i386) from fedora website, verified their md5 sums, and burned the iso cd images to cd's.
Once I get to the point where my computer has booted off of the fedora core 1 cd1 and I try to test the media it fails (all three fail - "The image which was just tested has errors. This could be due to a corrupt download or a bad disc. If applicable, please clean the disc and try again. If this test continues to fail you should not continue to install"), and therefore obviously the installation won't work.
I tried the cd's on two other computers, just put them in and tested the media, and it passed... this leads me to wonder what it is about my computer that makes this installation impossible.
Also note that I have windowsXP running on this computer, arguably well, and am trying to install fedora core onto the unpartioned space (about 10 gigs left) on my hard drive.
So my question is, where do I go from here, how do I find out what it is about my computer that makes this installation fail. Are there some tests I can run from within windows?... is this some BIOS option?... is there some faulty hardware or old firmware/drivers that I can fix?... please help me fix this.

When I installed Fedora the media test failed. I skipped the media test and Fedora installed OK. So try installing from the (bad?) CDs anyway. The worst that will happen is a failed install if the CDs are really unusable.
Well, with my LG cd drive, it is very bitchy. Sometimes it likes CD's and works, and sometimes it doesnt. I may be that your drive just doesnt like the cds, I would install anyways and then if it really doesnt work, borrow a friends cd drive, install it off of that, and then give the drive back to your friend.
Or just bring your HD over to your friends place and do it there.
