Less than 4MB of memory --system halted

I don't have at working CD-ROM device to install Fedora from.

Therefore, I made a DOS disk and ran loadlin as follows:

c:\ loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/ram rw initrd=initrd.img

I got the following output:

..............................
...............................

Now reading INITRD:
LOADING .................
......................................
.......................................
........................................


Less than 4MB of memory

--System halted

How do I fix this?

Using AMD64, 512 MB RAM...

You could try using a boot floppy instead of the loadlin technique.

What should I put on that boot floppy? The kernel is too big...

Usually there will be a boot floppy of some sort available from the distribution.

There is network-boot, usb-boot, and cd-rom-boot images. But none floppy-boot.
