Unhappy kernel panic: No init found

Hi
I recently upgraded an old PCChips m571 mobo with an AMD k62 500 processor and 128Mb RAM. The system has a CD rom and 4.3Gb ultra ATA Seagate harddisk(6 years old!). I then reformatted the disk and installed Fedora Core 1 from the CD's I had made. Everything worked fine and the initial boot ups were very good.

I then connected this PC along with my main PC which runs Windows 2000 and Fedora Core 1 as dual boot, using a KVM switch and the old upgraded PC will not load Fedora. I get into GRUB and Fedora loads, then I get these error messages....

Loading jbd.o module
Journalled Block Device driver loaded
Loading ext3.o module
Mounting /proc filesystem
Creating block devices
Creating root device
Mounting root filesystem
EXT3-fs: fragsize 1024!=blocksize4096(unsupported)
Mount: error 22 mounting ext3
pivotroot: pivot_root (/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd)failed:2
umount /initrd/proc failed:2
Freeing unused kernel memory: 120K freed
kernel panic: no init found, try passing init=option to kernel

and the system hangs there

I was told by the KVM manufacturer that there should not be any problem with operating systems

Am I doing anything wrong here..?
Any help will be appreciated...

Oh..BTW, I haven't tried the Fedora in my new machine with dual boot..
Will try and see if there is any problem there..

Thanks in advance

Follo up...
I can use Fedora on my main machine, so I rule out any problems with the KVM switch
What is wrong when Fedora mounts the ext3 fs??

Just a thought here, but do you have ext3 compiled into the kernel for your fedora installation? It looks like during your pivotroot, your ramdisk fs is trying to switch to the hard disk fs, but it may be ext3 and not ext2.

If this vanilla core1, then that is most probably what the issue is....

I wish I had a definitive answer. I am not 100% sure if it is the ext3 module that is causing the problem, though I remember something like that being a problem during redhat9 installation. I just installed fc1 on another partition on my machine, and I am getting close to the same error as you, (though my error is: mount: error 6 mounting ext3). Is there anyone else who can perhaps verify if this is the problem we might be experiencing? If it is thought so, then how can I boot fedora short of re-installing and partitioning as ext2 instead?

i think I have compiled ext3 into the kernel, but could you tell me wich config option you should use to do that? That way I can check my configuration.

thnx
