Question Help needed about localhost login

Hi
I tried to install FC 5 in the graphical interface but when anaconda started installation a garbled screen appeared in which I was able to do nothing but move my garbled mouse cursor here n there. After that I gave up on graphical installation and tried the text mode which went fine and I installed the FC 5 on my hard drive. After the booting the setup agent started in the text mode. When I exited from the setup agent the 'localhost login:' appeared I have no idea what to enter in order to login the FC 5.Can anybody help me about this.It is my first ever Linux installation. My PC's specs. are written in the signature below.

As you walked trough the setup.
You've been asked for the ROOT's Password.
So now localhost ist the name of your system.
And if you login with root and the dedicated pw.
It will look like root@localhost:
If you create another user account during the setup U can use that as well in order to login. But I suppose you're looking for a graphical login screen?

So this is not a big deal.
Check out http://www.ati.com
Drivers & Software ---> Linux Display Drivers and Software ---> under Linux x86
Motherboards with ATI Graphics ---> ATI Proprietary Linux x86 Display Drivers for XFREE86 / X. Org Version 8.28.8
Just use the they steps described there.

In order to get only a working screen for the suppose of doing what I ATI tells you to do out of your linux system. You can attempt to create a standard xorg.conf
Try "system-config-display" command as root
choose a standard lcd panel 1024x768 and vesa video card.

After you downloaded all the files from ati and after you done all the steps they recommend you will have a nice desktop with fine graphics.
But don't spend so much time to find the correct monitor use the closed to it's specifiations

Ok. Download the Driver from a suitable system and then copy it to /tmp
And run the steps ATI recommends.
Or if your FC5 System has connection to the internet as well then Boot into INIT 3.
At the Grub Boot Screen use I think (a) to append at the end of the Kernel Line
init 3 and execute that.
Your System will start then into init 3.

From that point use rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm to import the repo configuration of rpm.livna.org.
To install the ATI drivers simply type one of the following commands as root:
yum install kernel-module-fglrx-$(uname -r)

I would recommend the 2nd Idea ;-)
