Free Guide: Linux from Scratch
Linux from Scratch describes the process of creating your own Linux system from scratch from an already installed Linux distribution, using nothing but the source code of software that you need.
This 318 page eBook provides readers with the background and instruction to design and build custom Linux systems. The resulting system will be compiled completely from the source code, and the user will be able to specify where, why, and how programs are installed. This eBook allows readers to fully customize Linux systems to their own needs and allows users more control over their system.

Hi, Ive just got a new Pc with 2 200GB Seagate Baracuda sata hdds.
The Motherboard is Asus P5VDC-MX.
The problem i am getting is that the fedora installation won't detect the hard drives. I also tried knoppix live but it does not detect the disks also. However, if i boot with my ms-dos bootable cd, i am able to get the drives and i have even formatted them. I am pretty sure that i did not enable any raid interface on the motherboard. can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to correct it?
I downloaded the source for the Sata driver for the kernel 2.6.15. Can anyone tell me how to use this during my installation? Must i compile it before hand?
