Fedora Core: Black Screen on Boot
Okay, I've tried scouring the web for help on this, but nothing seems to work. I just reformatted my Linux box to put Fedora Core 2 on it. Installation went beatifully, without any problems. However, on the first boot, as soon as the message about pressing "I" to enter interactive startup appears, the screen goes black and stays that way.
I have tried changin the runlevel to 3 and manually starting XFree86 with the startx command, and have tried using the gdm and kdm commands, as well as redhat-config-xfree86. In every case, the X window system starts to load (I have a curser and a background), then the screen flashes and goes black. I can't figure out what is going on. Is this a bad video card? It was working fine as of yesterday with Fedora Core 1. I even tried doing a fresh install of FC1, but still the problem persists. Any ideas?
