Fedora Core 2 Makes Me Sick !

Hi,

Installing Fedora Core 2 ( 64 Bit Version )
On An Intel Itanium Processor System Is
The Way Of Making Me Crazy.

I Tried 10 Ways And Burned At Least
5 Different CDs. But I Can't Start The
Installation.

After Choosing The EFI Shell In The
Firmware Boot Manager, The Installation
CD MUST Boot Autmatically.

I Just Get A Prompt And Nothing Else.
I Tried To Add "elilo" To The ISO File,
But After Restarting The System, It
Happened Nothing.

I Already Checked The Boot Order And
The BIOS. I Downloaded The Original
X86_64 File From The Redhat FTP.

It's Very Important For Me To Solve
This Problem As Soon As Possible.

Don't You Have Had Some Problems
While Installing Fedora Core 2 ?
Especially With Booting The First CD.

----------------------------------------------------

When I Added The elilo.efi In The ISO File,
I Got The Message :

- No Loader For Linux Found

I Hope For Usefully Answers.

Thanks & Greetz

Sorry I can't offer a fix, but for what it is worth, I am able to get Fedora 2 up and running in X86_64 bit mode... and it runs really well...
BUT, I can't add packages, seemingly because the libraries are not all modified appropriately and or built correctly for 64bit mode.

But to stay on your track, I can get the standard Fedora FC2 distribution of X86_64 up and running...

Good Luck!

Don

Poss Solution

I had a problem like this when I first tried to install FC2.

Not sure it it's exactly what you are describing, but my computer would go through BIOS checks then hang with a cursor blinking on the screen and go no further.

Finally disabled all boot devices in the BIOS except the CD drive....that worked.

I hope it does fo you.

FC2 booted and installed fine on my Athlon64 system, only if I installed in text mode; graphical mode would always crash 2/3 of the way through installation...

Make sure your BIOS is up to date
